Delegate Assemblies Approve Election Board, Set Staff Wage Schedule
In June, 1199 Delegates in Rhode Island (June 18) and Connecticut (June 24) met to hear reports from the officers on union negotiations, contracts, new organizing and the state budget debate.
Several new delegates took the oath of office. The delegates voted to approve two important recommendations sent to delegates by the 1199 Executive Board:
Wage increases for the officers and staff of District 1199, and for the staff of the 1199 Health and Welfare, Pension and Training Funds. As in the past, across-the-board staff increases mirror those in the 1199 contract with the State of Connecticut, as follows:
o July 1, 2009 0%
o July 1, 2010 2.5%
o July 1, 2011 2.5%
The recommendation was approved by the delegates.
Members of the 1199 Election Board for union elections to be held this fall. As specified in the By-Laws, the Election Board consists of seven members and seven alternates who make the rules and supervise the conduct of union-wide elections. The names submitted for approval were:

The meeting was opened for nominations from the floor, but none were made.
The recommendation was approved by the delegates.
